Venetian Villas through History

In close collaboration with the IRVV, the Association has developed the first-ever Timeline charting the History of the Venetian Villas as part of the Oltre La Siepe (Beyond the Hedge) project—a specialized training course designed for teachers of all levels. The extraordinary result achieved was possible thanks to the generous help and collaboration of our advisor Dr. Margherita Azzi Visentini, a historian and expert on the Venetian Villas.

The infographic illustrates the history of Life within the Villas through three historical periods, starting from 421 – the year in which Venice is believed to have been founded – and passing through the birth of the Republic of Venice, the establishment of the first Venetian Villas and gradually marking the works of major individuals and key historical moments, such as Palladio, the rise of the Venetian Republic, the Baroque era, the Fall of the Venetian Republic, Romanticism, the World Wars, and right up to the present day.

This educational and promotional tool will be used by all participating Villas as a “Shared Starting Point” to welcome visitors and support the initial presentation of each experience. It will offer valuable insights into the historical significance of each Venetian Villa, situating it within the broader context of the Cultural Heritage of the Villas.
